The German heavy metal band Rage is already in existence for twenty-five years and this ‘Strings To A Web’ is already their nineteenth studio album. After releasing a very orchestral album with ‘Speak Of The Dead’ in 2006, they really returned to their traditionalheavy metal roots in 2008 with ‘Carved In Stone’.

Strings To A Web ’ has a little bit of both worlds, because on the fifth songs ‘Empty Hollow’ the orchestral aspect is showcased quite heavily again, while on the next instrumental title track even blues influences can be detected. Despite of this the new Rage album is more in the vein of ‘Carved In Stone’, because the majority of the material on ‘Strings ToA Web’ is traditional heavy metal. And that all for the better, since that’s what the band is best at.
